On the 27th and 28th of March next year for the 70th time Riga Stradiņš University will host the RSU International Student Conference ‘Health and Social Sciences’, the largest international student conference in the Baltics. The conference will bring together domestic and foreign students, experienced participants and field professionals. This year’s conference leadership is held by the 5th year student of the Faculty of Medicine, Marija Luīze Kalniņa, who aims to bring the grand anniversary with unprecedented scope and innovation.
The RSU International Student Conference ‘Health and Social Sciences’ is organized by the RSU Student Council, with the aim of promoting students’ interest in science, sharing experiences and of course networking and making new contacts. To quote the RSU SP Head of Science, Sintija Kukaine: “The development of scientific work should not only be considered as a prerequisite, but also as an opportunity for one’s professional development and as a tool for finding all possible causal links. “
The International Student Conference has always been an event that challenges you to exceed your limits, whether it’s by organising, presenting your research or learning new skills in workshops, therefore challenging yourself to daring to aim higher and exceed expectations is exactly what I wish for both the Organising committee, and all RSU students to do” says Marija. ISC 2019 was a breakthrough event that gathered more than 2000 participants – 300 active and 1800 passive. Its management was undertaken by Ulrika Ulla Andersone, a student at the Faculty of Medicine: “It is gratifying to be able to pass on the knowledge of the ambitious project, with additions and innovations of my year, to the next organizer who will add and improve upon it.”
Over the period of two days, participants will have the opportunity to attend several social science as well as healthcare sections. This year’s offer will also open larger master classes where participants will be able to try their hand at manipulations. When designing the conference program, we ensure that each participant of the conference will acquire new knowledge, skills and experience, as well as that every guest of the city will get acquainted with even a small part of Latvian culture and Riga.
The Riga Stradiņš University International Student Conference will undoubtedly bring together science enthusiasts and diverse young people from all over the world in 2020. Everyone is welcome at guest lectures and workshops. More information about the conference can be found at https://isc.rsu.lv.
