MikroTik
MikroTik is a Latvian company that provides hardware and software for Internet connectivity in most of the countries around the world and also is known for their support of medical sciences, especially oncology.
MikroTik has been cooperating with Children’s Clinical University hospital, Latvian Biomedical Research and study centre and SIA net-OMICS to work on the Latvian Pediatric Cancer Initiative. LPCI is an initiative established in 2018, aimed at advancing genetic testing for childhood cancer patients and personalizing treatment for each diagnosis.
Funding for the pilot project and current diagnostic testing is provided on a project basis by MikroTik with additional support from John Tully. As the pilot project is completed in the coming months and the diagnostics testing becomes standard procedure, the Latvian registered charity Latvian Pediatric Oncology Foundation will be funded to support testing for each new BKUS cancer patient for approximately four years, using the current statistics of about fifty new pediatric cancer patients a year.
