Abstract requirements

General information

  • All abstracts must be original work

  • Literature reviews will not be accepted

  • Only abstracts in the English language will be reviewed

  • Abstract can be submitted until 14 January 2018. No abstracts submitted after that date shall be accepted

  • All abstracts will be peer reviewed before 25 January 2018 by the Abstract Review Committee which reserves the right to accept and reject abstracts for inclusion in the programme. The decision is final

  • The total number of accepted abstracts is limited

  • Submitting authors can choose their presentation preference*: ORAL or POSTER**. The final decision will be made by the Abstract Review Committee

  • The same abstract cannot be submitted for both oral and poster presentation

  • Abstracts will be grouped in sessions according to the topic selected by the submitter. However, the final arrangement in sessions will be determined by the organisers

  • One active participant can submit an unlimited number of abstracts in all topics, except only one case report regardless of topic. Each abstract has to be submitted separately.

  • During the Conference student works will be evaluated by a professional Jury Committee

  • The three best works in each session (both oral and poster) will be awarded

* Case reports and small case series (descriptions of no more than 5 clinical cases) must be submitted as CASE REPORT / SMALL CASE SERIES preference. All case reports will be presented orally in a separate session.

** Only oral presentations are available for social sciences.


Abstract submission requirements

  • Abstracts must be submitted electronically via the Registration section of the conference website until 14 January 2018

  • Do not resubmit your abstract for any reason other than submission error, in which case please inform the organisers via e-mail info.isc@rsu.lv

  • Once your abstract has been submitted, it is final, so please review the accuracy and spelling of your work before submitting. The abstracts will be published exactly as submitted

  • We will check all submitted abstracts for plagiarism. You will be dismissed from the participating in ISC 2018  for plagiarism

  • After submitting your abstract, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. If you do not receive it, please contact us via e-mail info.isc@rsu.lv

  • Abstract acceptance notification will be sent to the submitter on 26 January 2018 after review by the Abstract Review Committee

Abstract requirements

  • Abstracts must be written in English

  • Abstracts should be no longer than 3000 characters including spaces

  • The abstract can not contain graphs, images and other graphic forms

Formatting instructions

  • Abstracts must be in PDF, A4 format, 2.5 cm margins

  • Abstract text must be in Times New Roman font, 12 pt size, single line spacing

Abstracts must include the following:

  • Centred

    • TITLE – capital letters, bold

    • Author(s) – Name Surname1, Name Surname2 (the presenting author's name should be written first)

    • Scientific research supervisor: Scientific degree Name Surname3

    • 1Institution, Country (if not mentioned in the institution's title)

  • Justified

    • Key words. Aaa, bbb, ccc

    • Introduction. A short description of the background of your research

    • Aim. A short description of what you wish to accomplish

    • Materials and methods. A description of materials and methods used in your research including study type and statistical methods

    • Results. A precise description of the obtained results

    • Conclusions. A summary of the study where you interpret the meaning of the results regarding your initial aim. Do not use phrases like “the results and conclusions will be presented at the conference” etc.

* Case reports and small case series must follow this structure: Key words, Introduction, Case report (Case series) description, Conclusion, Summary.

Abstracts which do not follow these rules will not be accepted!
